Live availability

Is Your Category Still Open for Our Next Mailing, or Did Someone Else Lock It?

One business per category. Pick yours and I'll check availability in real time. Takes 5 seconds.

Covering 100+ industries across home services, trades, retail, professional services, health & wellness, pets, food, and specialty. If your customers live in Rhode Island, you likely fit.

Coverage

Where the Showcase lands.

Every carrier route I mail to is inside the USPS EDDM $100K+ household-income filter. The actual numbers land well above that threshold. These are Rhode Island homes with the discretionary spend that drives premium goods, home services, and local retail.

  • Avg. household income: $143,130
  • Average household size: 2.65 people
  • Residents aged 35-75: 77.4%
The problem

Why Most Rhode Island Small Businesses Are Losing the Marketing Game.

Every local business owner I talk to tells me the same four things.

Digital ads are a slot machine.

Facebook and Google costs are up 60%+ in three years. You spend $800 a month and maybe you get calls, maybe you get ghosted. The algorithm decides if you eat this month.

Solo direct mail is $6,000+ per mailing.

Printing alone runs $1,800. Postage adds another $1,500. Design, list, EDDM paperwork, hauling bundles to USPS. By the time you've mailed 5,000 cards, you've spent a month's rent and you're praying for a 1% response.

Every Facebook group feels like a shouting match.

You post in "Rhode Island Local Businesses" and 14 other landscapers posted the same day. Nobody remembers you. Nobody calls. The algorithm buries your post by 3pm.

Word-of-mouth isn't scaling fast enough.

You do great work, your customers refer you. But referrals come in like dripping water. You need a predictable way to put your name in front of over 10,000 homeowners at once, without spending $6,000 to do it.

There's a better way. And it costs less than a single day of Facebook ads.

The solution

Meet The Rhody Showcase, the postcard homeowners actually read.

Not an ad. Not junk mail. A trusted community bulletin of local businesses… mailed to qualified homeowners.

Who's behind this

How one Rhode Island small business owner got tired of watching other Small Businesses get Squeezed by Big Business.

Steve Johnson, Publisher of The Rhody Showcase

I've been in the RI financial services world since 1996. Mortgages first, real estate investing since 2013. I've sat across the kitchen table from thousands of Rhode Islanders. I've seen their business P&Ls. I know what local service businesses actually spend on marketing, and I know what they get back.

And the honest truth? Most of it is a disaster.

I watched my neighbor, a damn good landscaper, drop $3,200 on a direct mail campaign that got him two calls. I watched a plumber friend spend $900 a month on Facebook ads with no idea if any of it was working. I watched a painter I hired burn his entire Q2 marketing budget on a "digital agency" that sent him a dashboard full of clicks and zero phone calls.

So I built the thing I wished existed.

One postcard. trusted local businesses. One per category. Over 10,000 qualified homes. Everybody splits the cost. Everybody wins.

I'm not an agency. I'm not a "team." I'm one guy, in North Kingstown, with a truck full of postcards and a USPS receipt for every mailing.

If you want to talk, text or call me directly at (401) 422-3568. I actually answer.

If you pay to lock your category and change your mind, for ANY reason, I refund you 100% of your payment as long as your card hasn't shipped to the printer yet. No restocking fee. No "25% cancellation." No fine-print catch. Full refund. Period.

Once cards are at the printer, I'm on the hook for the run, so at that point, no refunds. That's it. That's the whole policy. You'll see the same sentence on your receipt.

Honest fit check

Who This Is (and Isn't) Built For.

The postcard works. But it doesn't work for everyone. Before you fill out a form, read both lists and be honest with yourself.

This Is Built For You If…

  • You run a local Rhode Island business and your customers come from this state.
  • You've already spent money on marketing that didn't work, and you're tired of guessing.
  • Your average customer is worth $200 or more, so acquiring one for $47 is a deal, not a miracle.
  • You have a real offer ready, or you're willing to let me help you write one that actually converts.
  • You believe a postcard on the fridge of a household earning $100K+ for 17 days beats 1.7 seconds in a Facebook feed.
  • You do the work when the phone rings. Nothing on this card helps you if you can't return calls.

This Is NOT For You If…

  • You want leads tomorrow. Direct mail takes 7 to 14 days to hit mailboxes and react. It is not an impulse channel.
  • Your margins can't support a $47 customer acquisition cost. Be honest. This isn't the right channel for you.
  • You're expecting a 50% response rate. Real-world direct mail is 0.5 to 1%. The math still works. Your expectations need to match.
  • You want to advertise outside Rhode Island. I only mail RI. I'm not scaling to other states.
  • You want to hand me money and disappear. I need 15 minutes of your time on an offer worksheet. That's the deal.
  • You hate getting on the phone with a real person. I call every new advertiser. If that annoys you, we won't be a fit.

If the first list describes you, we should talk. If the second list describes you, please don't lock a slot. I'd rather lose the sale than watch you burn your money expecting miracles.

FAQ

Questions other Rhode Island business owners have asked me.

What exactly is The Rhody Showcase?

A 9×12 shared postcard mailed via USPS EDDM to over 10,000 Rhode Island addresses in $100K+ household-income postal areas. One business per category. You share the postage and production with the other categories, which is why it's $350 instead of $6,000.

How is this different from solo direct mail?

Solo: you pay for the full mailer, the full postage, the full design. You hunt for a printer. You hope nobody else mails your neighborhood the same week. $6,000 minimum before a single phone ring.

Shared: you split the postage with other businesses. You get one category all to yourself. I handle the printer, the design, the mailing list, the delivery. You just show up with an offer.

What's included for any of the ads available?

Print, postage, mailing list, EDDM permit, design of your ad, 2 revisions, QR code setup, scan tracking, category exclusivity, offer-crafting coaching, USPS delivery receipt, and right-of-first-refusal on the next edition. See the offer stack above for the full itemized breakdown.

What's the $20 service fee on every card?

Each ad slot purchase adds a $20 service fee that covers ad design and revisions, dynamic QR code setup and analytics access, account maintenance, and list verification for that edition. Charged once per card you advertise on. If you skip a month, you pay nothing that month. If you run on three editions in a row, you pay it three times. No subscription, no auto-renew.

What if my category is already taken?

I'll put you on the waitlist for the next card, or place you in an adjacent geographic zone where your category is still open. I'll never double up competitors on the same card. That's the whole point.

Who designs my ad?

If you have your own artwork and want to use it, by all means we can. If not, I'll be the one to design your ad for you. You fill out a short offer-crafting worksheet (about ten minutes), I build the ad using a template proven for your category, and you get two rounds of revisions. No design fees on top.

When does my card actually go out?

The card will go out approximately two weeks after slots close for the current month.

What if I hate the results?

Direct mail is direct mail. I can't guarantee that over 10,000 strangers will all call you. What I can guarantee is that if we haven't shipped to the printer yet, you get a full refund. After it ships, the cards are physically in the USPS pipeline and I can't pull them back.

I've been burned by "marketing guys" before. How is this different?

I'm not a marketing guy. I'm a local RI business owner selling to other local business owners. If I don't deliver, I'm not just refunding you, I'm killing my own business before it starts.

Plus I'm not new here. 30 years in Rhode Island financial services. Mortgages since 1996. Real estate investing since 2013. Licensed Rhode Island real estate professional. My reputation in this state is worth more than your ad cost.

Can I see a sample card before I commit?

Absolutely. It's currently on the website as an example card of what will be going out.

Can I run my ad on more than one card?

Yes. If you want coverage across multiple zones or multiple mailings, just tell me. I'll lock your category across all the cards you want at the same per-card price.
